Star Wars Episode VII Cast Revealed

On Tuesday, Director J.J. Abrams gave the fans a little taste of the direction he's taking the franchise. Abrams revealed the new cast of 'Episode VII' which features new and familiar faces. Die-hard fans will be ecstatic to hear that Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, R2-D2 and C3P0 will make their return. Yes, that's: Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Bake.
*wait's for you to finish your celebration*

One name you may notice isn't on the list is Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando. Since the cast reveal hit media, fans have been pointing out Lando's involvement. Personally, I feel like Lando's involvement would merely be for cameo and homage sake, and not to further the Star Wars plot-lines. Unless his character is actually needed, I think it's a smart idea to keep the movie from being convoluted.

Newcomers to the franchise include:
Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Adam Driver (Girls) , John Boyega (Attack the Block) , Daisy Ridley, (Blue Season), Andy Serkis (Gollum in The Lord of The Rings), Max von Sydow and Domhnall Gleeson (About Time).

Check out the first cast photo from the table read and brace yourself for goosebumps:

How surreal is it to see the original cast sitting with the new blood?

Of the cast, Daisy Ridley is the newcomer I know the least about, but if I've learned anything from J.J. Abrams- it's that his casting choices are superb.

Adam Driver
Adam Driver does a great job on Girls playing an oddball character. It's rumored he will play the villain but it's mere speculation.

John Boyega is one of the actors that caught me off-guard. I hadn't known he had auditioned in the first place. His lead role in Attack the Block was commendable and I'm looking forward to seeing what the actor brings to the franchise.

John Boyega
The casting of Domhall Gleeson was a pleasant surprise. I thought his role in About Time was great. His acting isn't a concern, but I'm curious to see how he handles whatever role he's given. It's hard for me to shake the quirky, tech-guy vibe he emits but I wouldn't doubt his abilities.

Oscar Isaac
My favorite casting of the bunch is Oscar Isaac, who absolutely killed it in the award nominated film Inside Llewyn Davis. If I were to pick the film's trio of heroes- Isaac would easily be the lead/ main jedi.

The film is set to release at the end of 2015. But check back here for more info as the film progresses and remember that May the Fourth is on it's way- possible pictures or news!
